Meet Hound Hike's Walking Correspondents
We've made a lot of friends on our travels. Sadly, lost a few along the way. Jack, Mildred, Toby and Poppy have all gone to that big dog walking meadow in the sky. Great dogs, faithful chums who all had a jolly good time while they were here and made us all smile.
Those of us who are still raring to go and hot to trot have gone the extra mile to test the walks on this blog so we thought you'd like to meet the canine correspondents who have helped us come up with some of the best on our patches.
Twinkle - a four year old Heinz 57 with Labrador ears and a strange wiry Labradoodle coat lives in Bromsgrove and is out and about most days with her owner.
Rocky - a six year old wire coated terrier (or Terror as his owners prefer to him) lives over in Redditch and is renowned for collecting golf balls and terrorising the two cats he lives with.
Sacha - another Heinz 57 who at the ripe old age of 14 has been rehomed from the Dogs Trust with her owner who lost Toby last year and shows no signs of slowing up. She covers the Chaddesley patch with Tumble and Onnie
Bramble - the old man of the pack at 17! He lives over near Abberley and spends more time snoring in front of his owner's Aga now than walking but knows the area like the back of his paw.
Blondie - a three year old Italian whippet with a lot of attitude and a nose like a rabbit radar. She lives over by Ledbury and can run like the wind. When she wants to!
Archie the wonder pup and Belle - our Belbroughton correspondents who being Collies are typically good with sheep and can belt across a field and back without losing a stride or getting out of breath. Awesome runners but not keen on bird scarers.
Jake - ancient but active despite only having three legs. He's 13 and was born without his front leg but has never let him hold him back. We all think his mum might have been friendly with a fox judging by his foxy snout and those ears. The Hartlebury area is his back yard.
Ted - an eight year old Jack Russell who lives in Aston Fields and is the kind of guy who is always happy to share his bones. Can tear an Ordnance Survey to shreds in the back of a car while his owner's filling her flask. Ted's a class act on the walking front and is one of our most experience correspondents.
Jess - one of the happiest three year old Labradors we know who lives out in Tenbury with a cat named Carlos and enjoys swimming almost as much as she loves walking.
Indy - a two year old Cocker who lives in Astley and is pictured wearing her anti-scratch funnel after a recent vet's visit for a "lady" procedure. She is an outrageously enthusiastic member of the walking correspendents team, doesn't come back when she's called and is only happy after covering at least five miles.
Primose - a two year old Jack Russell who lives with another Daisy in Bewdley and spends a lot of time patrolling her garden on the look out for moles. She's a bit of a tinker when it comes to walking because like most Jack Russells, she tends to get the scent of something interesting on the wind and then takes off alone. Her routes aren't always the most reliable because while she covers a lot of ground, she rarely remembers where she's been. Or she finds her way home! She'd complain if she wasn't mentioned!
